I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had a career in the exciting and constantly evolving Advertising Business for over 25 years. Firstly for Associated Newspapers, then for Emap (now Bauer). My years of multi discipline experience and close relationships with greatly talented people in Media, Creative and the Client community drove me to move into the world of Head Hunting, searching for, nurturing and placing the best in class Talent across the Media, Creative and Communication industries.I have run my own Head Hunting business for some years working with most of the Media agencies and Media owners and a good number of Creative agencies, placing great talent across most disciplines.The world of Advertising, Media, and Communications is changing fast though. The worlds of Media and Creative are increasingly converging driven by digital technology and the ever increasing need for the creation of content and the need to respond rapidly to the "noise" within the world of Social Media. To publicise the Festival to the Advertising community, as in Creative and Media agencies,Media owners,clients and research and data companies,to encourage them to attend.Cannes Lions,although famous worldwide for it's showcasing of brilliant creative and media work and insight and research,also delivers a week long programme of seminars and workshops. These are presented by luminaries and renowned teams from around the world, presenting their views, work,research and data which provide invaluable lessons and insights to the Advertising community. these learns and insights I would then edit and present back to clients and agencies within the Uk as part of New Business drive at Emap in the UK.

I sat on the Emap Advertising board,working with other Board members to develop vision and strategy and create revenue growth across our media portfolio. I also sat on the editorial boards of Emap Élan and the Emap motoring magazine board, working with the Editorial teams advising them of commercial viability of editorial brand and product, and acting as the conduit between Editorial and the Advertising agency and client community.

    I started my Media career at The Evening Standard in 1984, as a junior Sales executive. I sold advertising space directly to clients and then moved to specialise in Fashion, Film and then moved to working with Advertising agencies. I spent a good part of my career at this fast paced newspaper being promoted over the years until my last position as Head of Display Sales from 1997 to 2001. As head of Display Sales I developed and ran a team of 50 people , delivering a revenue base of £65m per annum, across a daily newspaper, supplements and ES Magazine.Along with my relationships with clients and Media agencies, also worked very closely and daily with the incumbent Editor and his team to collaborate and manage the size and layout of the newspaper and ES magazine to maximise our revenues without compromise of the editorial product.
