The Lead Clinic Informatics Specialist is a critical member of the Scribe Program. They champion the organization’s mission to provide high quality patient care by leading their Clinic Scribe team. The Lead Clinic Scribe acts as an in-clinic expert on all Scribe related matters including: training, coordinating coverage and assistance with implementation of any new clinic initiatives. In addition, they will engage with the Senior Scribes to facilitate successful execution of Scribe activities in each clinic. This new addition to the Oak Street Health team will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day to day operations of these essential activities.

Beyond the typical Scribe role, these care team members serve as clinical documentation assistants to their paired provider. Internally, we call them CISs (Clinic Informatics Specialists) to recognize their important role in supporting accurate, specific, and timely clinical documentation. In addition to observing and documenting all patient encounters in real-time, our Scribes become experts in our value-based care model and the documentation and care of chronic conditions, including ICD-10 and CPT coding. Scribes use this expertise to help providers identify and help close care gaps.
