I am the community-backed independent member for Goldstein elected at the federal election on May 21st 2022.Politics, natural disasters, plane crashes, terror attacks, mass shootings, conflict, civil unrest, poverty, I have seen and interpreted the progress and aftermath of them all. I spent 4 years in the USA and at the White House, covering the election of Donald Trump, and translating the impact of his Presidency for Australians. I have been on scene after hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones in the USA, Southeast Asia and the Pacific. I have waded through floods and navigated the aftermath of bushfires to tell personal stories and expose issues. I have seen first-hand the impact of mass shootings. I have seen conflict, war, civil unrest, poverty, famine and economic collapse up close. I have interpreted, synthesised and explained unfolding global events for live audiences on television, radio and online. I have met and interviewed displaced people, refugees, soldiers, voters, business people, women and children and families, prime ministers and presidents. I have reported undercover in places like Zimbabwe, Vietnam and Myanmar. I have lived and worked across four continents in vastly differing cultural settings from Venezuela to India to Vanuatu to Sudan. I have written 3 books.
