I am a recent graduate of Butler University with a Bachelor of Arts in Race, Gender, and Sexuality studies and minors in Psychology and Philosophy! I graduated "cum laude" with a 3.92 GPA and "with distinction" in my academic major. The Audre Lord Award is presented to the most promising continuing student in scholarship and consciousness and the Dr. Terri Jett award is presented to political science, peace and conflict studies, or race gender and sexuality studies students who, like Dr. Terri Jett, have shown a strong, intersectional commitment to advancing social justice.During my time at Butler University:- Presented on an undergraduate panel at the National Women's Studies Association (NWSA) conference. Presentation titled: "Why You Shouldn't Say 'You Don't Have to Be a Victim': The Importance of Survivor-Affirming Language"- Volunteer at the Indiana Women's Prison as a GED tutor. - A Resident Assistant at Fairview House on Butler's campus for two years. - Treasurer of the Gender Equity Movement (GEM)- I held an internship at Uncommon Goods in Brooklyn, New York for the Fall semester of my junior year (2022). I consistently worked 40 hours a week and spent most of my time working independently and completing my own tasks/assignments. Most of my time was spent recruiting for the seasonal customer service positions at Uncommon Goods: Lead, Coach, Exceptions, and Specialist/Representative. I guided hundreds of applicants through our hiring process which for customer service was a six-step process (application review, screening questionnaire, phone screen, customer service assessment, interview, and offer). I worked closely with two other interns on my team and the customer service hiring managers to reach the hiring goals for each of the positions. When needed, I assisted in the hiring for multiple other seasonal positions. In my four months at Uncommon Goods, I hired around 150 people. An average day involved looking over applications in Greenhouse, performing preliminary phone screens (upwards of 15-20/day), distributing appropriate tests to applicants, extending job offers via phone and digital letters, sending in background checks via GoodHire, onboarding new hires into ADP Workforce, and running remote/onsite orientations for seasonal employees. Additionally, as Team Lead, I would have daily meetings with my team to go over to-do's for the day and to outline everyone's priorities. As new employees entered my team, I would train them in our hiring process and take them through each system we used. Working at Uncommon Goods was a wonderful experience. I learned many skills in terms of Human Resources but I also gained interpersonal communication and time management skills. Very thankful that they gave me this opportunity and truly worked with me to make sure I got as much valuable experience out of it as possible! Show less -
