Working as part of the HR senior management team for Essex Police and Kent Police, I am responsible for leading a strategy and diversity team, developing the HR strategy and leading significant HR change, cost reduction and convergence programmes across both forces. Working as part of the divisional senior management team I was responsible for the effective HR management and deployment of 600 Police Officers and staff. With direct responsibility for a team of 15 staff my key areas of responsibilities were resource management in a 24/7 environment, driving a value adding HR function in a financially focused performance culture, developing and delivering the learning and development strategy for the division, leading on change initiates to refocus the shape of the division, absence and performance management in line with Home Office targets and developing and implementing innovative civilianisation programmes to reinvest Police Officers back to front line roles.

I led the HR workstream as part of £27m change management programme setting up a contact management centre. I was responsible for all aspects of HR as part of the programme this included strategic HR planning of the programme, management and redeployment of 500 geographically based resources to the new centre, recruitment and selection of 200 new staff, HR policy development to enable effective management of the change, Union consultation, organisational and role design and compensation & benefit management.
