In November 2019, having gained a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours I took on the role of Trainee Compliance Administrator at the Casino in Bath. I quickly realised that compliance was an interesting area that leveraged my studies and spent the evenings researching legislation, codes of practice and AML procedures: learning everything I could to give me the knowledge required to work effectively in a more senior role. I took on an increasing number of responsibilities whilst also studying for and attaining a Specialist Certificate in Money Laundering Risk in Betting and Gaming from the International Compliance Association. By the time the company ceased trading (due to Covid-19), I had fully taken over the role of Compliance manager.Despite the limited timescale, the breadth of knowledge and skills I rapidly acquired at Century Casino Bath is reflective of the drive and competence needed to quickly make a success of this type of role.
