About Zoe Parode

With over 16 years of work experience in the special education sector, I am passionate about enhancing the communication and learning outcomes of students with diverse needs and abilities. As an AAC specialist teacher at Calderdale Council, I apply my expertise in assistive technology, communication systems, and content development to create engaging and accessible curriculum and resources for learners across the school. I also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess and support the individual needs of each student, and provide training and advice to fellow teachers, parents, and AAC users in the local and global community.In my current role, I coordinate the AAC and sensory provision across the school, and implement and evaluate new assistive technology solutions to support learners. I use my interpersonal communication and educational technology skills to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, where students can express themselves, interact with others, and access the curriculum. I also teach across the school, applying my knowledge of psychology and pedagogy to deliver differentiated and personalised instruction that meets the learning objectives and interests of each student.
