I work part-time at The Ship and Shovel pub/ restaurant. I work as a barmaid and a waitress which can involve me switching between being on the restaurant floor and being behind the bar serving drinks. I thoroughly enjoyed working behind the bar on a Friday and Saturday night as we used to have band nights on with a wide variety of music. It got everyone dancing and we were known in the area for our band nights and gained a lot of attraction to the pub. On a band night, we would have over 100 people in the pub singing and dancing and despite the stress of trying to get drinks done as quickly as possible, it was very fun for all of us working. I work very well under pressure in the hospitality industry, especially on a Sunday lunch time as there was a lot of stress to get everything done to perfection and to make sure that all of our customers are happy and satisfied with our services. I also enjoy seeing our regular customers as you get to know them very well and they enjoy seeing us in the pub and have complimented me a number of times for having some of the best customer service skills in the area which gives me a lot of confidence. It it one of the best pubs I have worked in and will continue to enjoy what I do.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working at Boxxfresh for the past few months as they are very flexible with their hours and it allows me to work around my University lectures without worrying. I have met some lovely people there and I am able to work alongside my friend which makes the job even better. I have learnt some new skills since working at Boxxfresh and have widened my knowledge on fruit and vegetables. Since being in lockdown, it has shown me that i am determined as I was able to go and get another job, instead of sitting at home on furlough.

I was a part-time waitress in a pub/ restaurant taking on responsibility to make sure that customers are well looked after whilst eating/ drinking with us. I would be meeting and greeting customers, showing them to their tables and doing a drink/ food order. I would be checking on the customers to make sure that they are happy with their food and if they would like anything else. I would have to use my customer service skills all of the time during my shifts and if a customer was upset or started to become frustrated, I would have to keep myself calm and try and resolve the problem whilst apologising to the customer at the same time. I would be in charge of the restaurant and training new staff members to make sure that they do the job to the best of their ability whilst keeping the reputation of the business there.

I was a part-time waitress at the pub. I would take food and drink orders from customers, take bookings and handle money whether it was cash or card. I would also recommend certain dishes that were on the specials menu or suggest foods for certain people with different allergies to make sure that are accompanied for whilst also show a high level of customer service. Due to my age, I was restricted on different opportunities within the hospitality industry.

I would work every weekend, morning and evenings, looking after 40 different horses. I would muck them out, feed them, change their water buckets, groom them and got them ready for their lessons as it was a riding school. I would also make sure that the yard itself was always looking presentable by sweeping it 2-3 times a shift and helping customers when they came onto the yard. Part of my role was to get the people who loaned horses on the yard to help with general yard duties such as mucking out or doing the water buckets. I would delegate different roles to different people and give them a set amount of time for them to do it by. Whilst looking after the riding school horses, I would also have to look after my own horse and some of the other people's horses who were not part of the riding school which I would be paid extra to do.
