- Monitor the effectiveness, efficiency and quality of the Council’s waste reduction, re-use and recycling services and implement plans to improve recycling rates.- Plan and implement new services as well as identify cost saving opportunities to meet the Council’s waste and other environmental initiatives.- Design, plan and deliver campaigns and initiatives to support the waste hierarchy model and meet the Council’s recycling objectives and targets.- Promote and publicise both the Council and the County’s waste initiatives through use of the traditional media, digital media, website, trade fairs, exhibitions, special events and sponsorship etc. to increase public awareness of waste/street care issues and to gain public commitment and support in improving the environment through waste reduction, re-use and recycling and litter prevention. Maximise recognition of the service by entering for appropriate award schemes.- Prepare technical and financial reports on waste/street care matters for the Group Manager to provide management information and/or gain approval for new initiatives from councillors, etc.- Ensure the annual development and implementation of communication and education programmes around the waste hierarchy and related Clean, Safe and Green issues.- Promote initiatives with internal and external partners and to gain sponsorship and funding.- Line manager to the Environmental Awareness Officer and Recycling Advisor

After being diagnosed with bowel cancer in October 2021, having surgery resulting in a permanent stoma and currently undergoing chemotherapy, I took the difficult decision to close Vida Eco Shop.I poured my heart and soul into it for three years and don't regret a second of it. I helped people discover a wealth of plastic free and eco friendly products. I met an incredible community of people making a difference and it let me to my job as Environmental Projects Lead Officer.It was an incredible learning curve but it was the right time to close and focus on my health and on living life to the full!
