As co-founder of the first licensed cricket farm in the Pacific Northwest, I work to advance the market for a more low-impact and responsible protein. Craft Crickets was an artisan producer of this emerging industry, producing, selling, and promoting insects as one of the most environmentally low-impact and nutritious sources of protein available. While the commercial aspect of the business is on pause, I continue to lecture on sustainable business practices and a more resilient food supply chain.

Based in Libreville, Gabon, I set up the in-country Gabon side of the Gabon-Oregon Transnational Research Center on Environment and Development. In addition, I developed and managed a program and projects around urban sustainability for the Center, connecting government, public and private sector, academic, and community stakeholders in order to reach and implement holistic solutions. This included a sustainable master plan for the national university, Université Omar Bongo, which was achieved through participatory planning.

Policy: Created policy frameworks for holistic community planning and sustainable development for new and existing urban developments. Led the development of the Community Capital Framework, a model adopted by the Prince’s Foundation in 2011 and incorporated into sustainability strategies across multiple projects such as the national Sustainable Development Code in Gabon.Project Management: Managed and contributed to major projects in the built environment, including brownfield regeneration, community-led planning, capacity-building and authoring Sustainability Strategies within Master Plans. Successful in top-down and bottom-up approaches with communities and government, in the UK, Sierra Leone, Gabon, Canada and the United States.
