In this role, I coordinated and facilitated communication between the patients, research team, and pharmaceutical sponsors to ensure patient safety and satisfaction while participating in thoracic oncology clinical trials. I provided emotional support, safety planning, and resource referrals to students impacted by sexual violence on campus, demonstrating a compassionate and proactive approach. Additionally, I assisted with the onboarding of the incoming Director and Title IX coordinator, ensuring a smooth staff transition and continuity of care for students.

I collaborated with Dr. Loren Marulis on an international meta-analysis examining the impact of early childhood metacognitive interventions on learning and achievement. I assisted in conducting a comprehensive literature searches using databases like PsycINFO and ERIC, reviewing over 2,000 studies to identify relevant research. Through rigorous abstract screenings, I assisted in selecteting 30 studies that significantly contributed to the investigation.

As Program Coordinator of the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Advocacy, I mentor and supervise six paid student interns focused on bystander intervention, education, survivor support, and Title IX. I also oversee a group of 40+ peer educators on a weekly basis who are dedicated to serving as peer leaders on campus. Lastly, while serving in this role, I have met with the President of the College and relevant college administrators to inform policy and budget changes.

It's on Us is a national initiative started by the Obama-Biden White House that was created to increase conversations surrounding sexual violence, emphasizing that everyone must be a part of the solution. It is now one of the largest national organizations combatting campus sexual assault, with chapters at more than 55 campuses nationally. Our chapter focused on holding trainings for students around survivor support, bystander intervention, and advocacy. This chapter filled the gaps of the organizations available to students through the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention as it was the only student-run club that directly addressed sexual violence, which allowed for a diverse group of students.

The Connecticut College Community Response Team is made up of students, faculty, staff, and community partners (Police, Safe Futures, and the Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Eastern CT) to discuss policies, procedures, and campus events. As the student chair appointed by the President of the College, I represented the study body of the College to determine the specific needs of the community and helped develop and supervise the implementation of new college policy.

I served as the Teaching Assistant for a 1-credit Sexual Violence Prevention class taught by the Director of the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Advocacy, Rachel Stewart.

I was an intern for the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Advocacy for the 2020-2021 school year. In this position, I consulted with other student leaders on campus to hear their safety concerns and brainstorm potential solutions that were shared at the respective meetings. I also coordinated events and community outreach programming related to advocacy and survivorship. I was selected for the position of Program Coordinator for the following school year.

Connecticut College received a 20 million dollar donation for the implementation of the Gund Dialogue Project. This new initiative combines critical theory and experiential learning to deepen intercultural awareness and understanding. As a trained peer facilitator, I was selected to lead peers in dialogues to create a shared understanding of lived experiences and social justice issues on campus and beyond.

Enrich is a program within the Connecticut College Holleran Center for Communicate Action and Public Policy that provides mentorship for middle school students from New London’s Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School. Students would travel to the Connecticut College campus for after-school homework help and enrichment activities led by College students. I served as a workshop leader which duties included: planning workshops based on developmental benchmarks, utilizing active listening skills to provide emotional peer support, and coordinating logistics of the program

While serving as a student advisor, I mentored and supervised a group of 15 first-year students through their first semester to ensure a smooth transition to college. This included assessing their needs and referring them to the different resources on campus. I also coordinated orientation activities for the group throughout the semester.

As a research intern for the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, I work under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. Trisha Arnold, Clinical Psychologist/Research Scientist to assist her team with projects related to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and HIV prevention/Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis uptake among minorities at high risk of acquiring HIV living in Mississippi. Duties include: manuscript preparation, coding qualitative interviews, brief literature reviews, and weekly team meetings.

The Waterford Country School’s residential program is a co-ed bed facility for adolescents referred by DCF or the Juvenile Justice system that works to provide intensive family, individual, and group treatment. As a residential intern, I worked with adolescent girls aged 13-17 to develop social, emotional, and behavioral skills in order for them to return to their homes, schools, and communities successfully. Under staff supervision, I utilized the CARE method to provide trauma-informed emotional and behavioral coaching. I also assessed the children’s immediate needs and used this information to inform group sessions.

As a part of the Steering Committee, I met with legislators in order to encourage support (cosponsorship) of the Every Voice Bill. I strategized with other students around the state on how to best inform students on issues regarding sexual violence, specifically in higher education, as well as educate the campus on the Every Voice bills and their necessity. House Bill 6374 unanimously passed into law during the 2021 Legislative session. It went into effect as Public Act 21-81 on July 1, 2021.

As the social media coordinator, I managed the Every Voice Connecticut social media pages, including Instagram and Facebook, to engage students throughout the state in anti-sexual violence legislation. I did this through graphics and virtual campaigns.
