Center coordinator for the Maternal and Developmental Risks from Environmental and Social Stressors (MADRES) Center at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.The MADRES Center investigates the cumulative effects of chemical pollutants and psychosocial, behavioral, and built environment risk factors, during and after pregnancy, on maternal and infant health outcomes with the goal of increasing environmental and health equity for Los Angeles communities disproportionately impacted by obesity and environmental chemical pollutants.

I received a Smith Undergraduate Research Fund (SURF) grant to develop a curriculum on the imperial histories of scientific technology and outcomes. This course will enrich biology students' understandings of the history of science and its intersections with sociological, race and gender theory. I want to center students' experiences in STEM as part of the learning process to validate their belonging in a discipline which has traditionally excluded gender minorities and people of color. I hope to engage individuals with the ways science interacts in their world, and create a more socially conscious generation of scientists and medical professionals.

With my internship at Child Family Health International through their program, Realities of Health Access and Inequities, in Oaxaca, Mexico, I was able to shadow doctors and residents at a variety of health clinics and hospitals serving mixed-income populations. I learned a lot about public health issues affecting the region and how urban and rural patients receive care. I was invited to present on my internship at the annual Smith in the World Conference in 2019, and gave a lunch talk at the Lazarus Center for Career Development about interdisciplinary internship opportunities with Smith.
