I focus on developing the capacity and systems of organisations to help them thrive. I support teams by creating strategic clarity, realigning their objectives, and honing their project designs accordingly. Using a coaching approach, I build their in-house capacity for fundraising. To effectively communicate an organisation's vision, mission, and impact, I collaborate with impact communication specialists, writers, and creatives ensuring a clear and compelling message to potential donors.

ACDI is an inter- and transdisciplinary research and training institute that brings together academics and practitioners to co-produce and test new insights, evidence and innovations that will help to solve Africa's climate and development challenges. In this role I am responsible for:- Collaborative development of research, fundraising, and communication strategies.- Donor fundraising for ACDI, including campaign development.- External communication of ACDI’s research impact.- Managing ongoing development of research proposals, including: i) setting up research teams within and beyond UCT; ii) coordinating inputs into proposals; iii) supporting project leads with project design; iv) development of proposal budgets; and v) ensuring all funder requirements are met.- Business development, including setting up a research consultancy to generate income for ACDI.- Oversight of a complex project development pipeline through improved project management systems.- Monitoring and evaluation of research impact and outputs.

In this role I was responsible for coordination and execution of interdisciplinary research, analysis and technical writing for climate change projects. I also coordinated ACDI’s research funding portfolio, including:- Shorter term research proposals for clients such as the African Development Bank (AfDB), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and United National Development Programme (UNDP).- Donor fundraising, such as for the AXA Chair in African Climate Risk.

C4 EcoSolutions is a private consultancy that provides innovative solutions for adapting to climate change and conserving biodiversity. In this role I developed projects for the United Nations Environment Programme and United Nations Development Programme (funded by the Global Environment Facility/Least Developed Countries Fund). I also provided business development and communications support on private sector land restoration/ carbon sequestration project: Kuzuko Lodge Private Game Reserve Thicket Restoration Project.

After completing my Masters degree I was selected for a prestigious internship in the WWF-Environmental Leaders programme. In this role I undertook research in green skills research; project managed the development of promotional publications; developed copy for the WWF-SA website; and coordinated training events.

Alex Hetherington is a leading South African environmental sustainability strategist. In this role I undertook research on topics related to climate change and sustainable development; assisted with report writing; and created tailored news briefs for clients using Mail Chimp.

The Enviropeadia is a green directory and encyclopeadia of topics on sustainable development. In this role I managed a network of advertisers, represented the Enviropaedia at events, and undertook research and copy writing for the encyclopaedia and related publications.
