In this role I am responsible for:- Collaborative development of research, fundraising, and communication strategies.- Donor fundraising for ACDI, including campaign development.- External communication of ACDI’s research impact.- Managing ongoing development of research proposals, including: i) setting up research teams within and beyond UCT; ii) coordinating inputs into proposals; iii) supporting project leads with project design; iv) development of proposal budgets; and v) ensuring all funder requirements are met.- Business development, including setting up a research consultancy to generate income for ACDI.- Oversight of a complex project development pipeline through improved project management systems.- Monitoring and evaluation of research impact and outputs.

I also coordinated ACDI’s research funding portfolio, including:- Shorter term research proposals for clients such as the African Development Bank (AfDB), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and United National Development Programme (UNDP).- Donor fundraising, such as for the AXA Chair in African Climate Risk.

In this role I developed projects for the United Nations Environment Programme and United Nations Development Programme (funded by the Global Environment Facility/Least Developed Countries Fund).
