FoodCorps’ mission is to connect kids to healthy food in school. We focus on delivering hands-on lessons in gardening, cooking, and tasting healthy food; improving school meals; and encouraging a school-wide culture of healthI served at Mill City Grows with Lowell Career Academy, an alternative public high school, and Lincoln Elementary School. Highlights include: • Developed curriculum for and taught project-based Food Justice elective and afterschool club• Led professional development and supported 90% teachers in including hands-on gardening, cooking, and nutrition lessons into their curriculums• Facilitated Healthy School Team of school admins, teachers, students, and community-members• Managed school garden with 23 4’x10’ raised beds• Taught family cooking classes with the following impact: 75% of families reported cooking more meals at home, all families reported eating more fruits and vegetables.

Overnight summer camp for people with special needs. I was paired with a camper one on one and entirely responsible for his care and engagement with the summer camp experience.

• Researched and wrote manual detailing rights of immigrant students in LA public schools• Translated documents for students’ legal cases in LAUSD and served as Spanish-English interpreter for lawyers and clients
