I worked in a team of Data Scientists who focused on leveraging state-of-the-art machine learning approaches to enrich information extraction in eDiscovery solutions.My duties:- Staying up-to-date with the current literature on different machine-learning fields (Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Large Language Models, efficient AI, explainable AI)- Communicating with stakeholders to specify requirements for the models to-be-developed- Collecting data to be used for training models, preparing annotation projects for them and assessing the quality of the resulting annotations- Generating synthetic training data programmatically to enrich the existing datasets- Following MLOps principles and best practices to deliver, monitor and maintain models over time- Creating APIs to serve requests to these models- Constructing containerised applications which consume the trained models and preparing them for release as software components- Creating CI/CD pipelines responsible for building, testing and publishing the various software artifacts (e.g. packages, images)- Working closely with other teams concerned with different aspects of the software development cycle (developers, testers, DevOps engineers and UX designers) to prepare the integration of the implemented components into the company products- Collecting feedback on the performance of the models in production and conducting error analysis to determine possible sources of error- Supervising and providing mentorship to Bachelors/Masters students who conducted research with the company in the scope of their internship/thesis projects (topics related to Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, efficient and explainable AI)

In addition to the above, I also graded and provided detailed feedback on their submissions.

Graduate Intern at SAS Research & Development (R&D) Centre in Glasgow.After I finished my undergraduate degree, I came back to SAS as a graduate to attend a year-long placement. Firstly, I joined the Platform Server team and worked as a Tester to assert the ideal functionality and quality of the product. Subsequently, I was transferred to the newly-formed team of Data Management that works on products which are included on the SAS Viya package. This collection of software components is used by business agents and individuals who work with Data Analytics. The team was responsible for the User Interface and the Mid-Tier components of these products for which we were assigned the investigation and fixing of reported bugs as well as the implementation of new features to be included in their future releases. By working with different teams on various projects, I enriched my technical abilities since I was introduced to a large variety of different technologies and frameworks, and improved my adaptability by having the opportunity to learn different team management techniques and concepts of the Agile methodology, which is amongst the core values of the SAS Institute.

Summer Intern at SAS Research & Development (R&D) Centre in Glasgow.During my internship there, I became a member of the Platform Client Team and devoted the first weeks in familiarising myself with both the system itself and the technologies used in parallel with it. I was allocated the investigation and fixing of various reported bugs within the system and so I learnt about the different processes followed during the bug resolving lifecycle within the company.Later, I was assigned a personal project that was related to the design and implementation of a Log Parsing Tool to be used by the Automated Functional Testing (AFT) team. I chose to implement the Tool in Java using only the built-in libraries. These design decisions preserved the robustness and the portability of the tool.
