My passion is for communication. For most of my career I have worked in Marketing, but I have recently changed my career direction to work in a Strategic HR role, responsible for implementing a people strategy. We want to attract the best talent and develop our people to support them through their career and this is where my marketing experience, brand development and communication skills are being utilised. It is a new challenge, new people, new channels but the same core focus - to promote Toyota as a world class brand.One of my greatest personal achievements was working towards my MBA whilst working full time. It was hard work but a great experience not only because of the people I met and the things I learnt, but also because it changed the way I tackled work. It took me outside of my comfort zone and made me consider the wider business environment (beyond marketing) and although a cliché, it helped make me think more strategically.Working for Toyota Material Handling (forklifts and warehouse trucks) in the business to business marketing sector has been a great experience. I get to work with innovative people and help to drive forward a respected brand, which is challenging but also a great privilege. As Marketing Manager I was able to lead a creative marketing team in which every day is different. One minute you could be writing a press release, the next developing an online plan or talking to customers on an exhibition stand.
