About Zoe Trinder-Widdess
I'm a science communicator specialising in health research communication. From writing plain language summaries and pitching stories to the media, to organising engagement events and planning campaigns, I bring research projects to life for audiences across a range of channels. I've developed and implemented communications strategies, and the teams needed to support them. With the growing emphasis on research impact in academia, I train researchers and other professionals to hone their communication skills, from Twitter to writing. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and getting people excited about the opportunities good comms offers to enhance researchers' work.I also get involved in research and implementation projects that have a particular comms flavour. This is especially rewarding as I am using my skills for tangible public benefit. Before this phase of my career, I specialised in digital communications, with a strong track record of developing transformational digital strategies. My specialism was managing complex digital estates, in large organisations rich in knowledge, content and data. I have managed the digital channels of major organisations in the charity, public and B2B sectors.Having managed several website launches and other complex projects, I am fiendishly well organised. I also enjoy taking on new challenges and forging my own path. In almost every job I've been the first person to do it, giving me the opportunity to shape teams and make the work my own.
Listed skills include Digital Strategy, Digital Marketing, Email Marketing, Content Management, and 32 others.

As with ARC West, I lead the communications for the BRC across all channels, with the support of the BRC funded Communications Executive. This includes contributing to the BRC's reapplication, relaunching the website, social media and email newsletters. I am working hard to create a communications culture in the BRC.

Digital Communications Manager
I led the team that covered the intranet, website, extranets, social media and email marketing. In 2006 the eCommunications function moved from London to Bristol. I was the first person recruited to the new team, and I developed the team structure to be more strategic and specialism-led. I shaped the corporate web development programme, which transformed the Commission's digital communications.
Internet Manager
This was a completely new role, and I developed both the team and our processes from scratch. Previously the Trust’s web presence was fragmented, managed remotely by various departments and properties, and a variety of different agencies. I gave the Trust a more stable, professional and fit for purpose web presence.
Interactive Media Manager
This was a new role where I had the opportunity to develop the PPA’s online strategy. I managed all aspects of www.ppa.co.uk, including responsibility for editorial, marketing, advertising, design, information architecture and technical activities.
