Worked alongside other students to educate our communities about their rights, to empower our neighbors, and to find safe, stable, and creative ways to house students, faculty, and staff. Facilitated a bi-monthly, district-wide student meeting where student leaders collaborated on housing related projects. Led volunteers in outreach and advocacy projects, helped them build their leadership skills, and grow their understanding of the history of housing issues in the Silicon Valley.

Advocated for local, state, and federal legislation as it pertained to community college students, faculty and staff. Held training sessions for students on how to meet with legislators, conducted research on legislation and developed strategic plans for approaching our elected officials, and led student outreach efforts to educate our student population on resources available to them.

Worked with a variety of non-profits and government agencies such as Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, and the National Parks Service on projects involving park trail maintenance, community outreach, construction, childcare, and disaster relief. During my experience I led groups of volunteers, strategically allocated scarce resources, and built trust and strong relationships between AmeriCorps the communities that I served that have continued after my service.
