The mission of Fair Trade USA's Certification Team is to develop, implement, and continuously improve a transparent and credible assurance model that instills confidence in the Fair Trade USA seal and is easily understood by all stakeholders. We ensure compliance with Fair Trade USA Standards and guarantee claims throughout each product’s chain of custody. Working directly with the Certification Manager and collaborating with the entire Certification Team and counterparts in Partnership Development, Partner Success, Producer Services, and Tech teams, this position is responsible for Fair Trade USA’s trader assurance process.-Conduct desk-based audits against the Fair Trade USA Trade Standard-Analyze large sets of data on Fair Trade purchases and sales to verify information is reported correctly and confirm that transactions are conducted in line with requirements-Maintain certification relationships with Fair Trade USA traders, providing compliance guidance and ensuring adherence to certification requirements.-Work effectively as a team member, supporting peers in day-to-day assurance processes.

-Assist clients in the creation and implementation of human rights due diligence plans that are risk-based and rights-holders centered. Align programs with the OECD Guidelines on Multinational Enterprises.-Execute various services related to human rights due diligence including: Regulatory Compliance Audits, Human Rights Impact & Salience Assessments, Supply Chain Mapping & Risk Analysis, Responsible Sourcing Strategies, and Human Rights Disclosure & Communications. -Facilitate capacity building activities related to special topics in human rights including forced labor, child labor, modern slavery, and labor rights.-Work with clients to establish social impact programs and signature programs while adhering to international standards and reporting frameworks. -Conduct benchmarking, competitive analyses and research on clients, their industries, and stay up to date on rapidly evolving market trends as it pertains to the landscape in which they do business.-Collaborate with cross-functional teams (internally with other Uplift subject matter experts, and with our clients) to drive the integration of social impact and human rights considerations into client projects.-Contribute to the development of training materials such as toolkits, guidelines, informational brochures, webinars and workshops on social impact and human rights

Interacting directly (in Spanish) with farmworkers, interns will qualitatively obtain information about human rights violations and working conditions. -Work with attorneys on client intakes and interviewing and in the various stages of litigation and advocacy related to working conditions, civil rights (including human trafficking), housing, sexual harassment, and immigration. -Assist with legal research and writing related to current litigation and other projects. -Facilitate know your rights presentations to various farmworkers throughout the region--worked in the San Luis Valley Region. -Other responsibilities include social media management, event coordination and community partnership meetings. -The internship was approximately 4 months and total hours worked were above 450.
