I teach both traditional algebraic-level physics and "experiential" physics which is project-based as well as two one-semester courses: Introduction to Statistics and Problem-Solving Strategies. I am also involved with advising the school Mediation team, doing play-by-play announcing for the football and basketball home games, and for 2023-2024, I hope to help start a school radio station streaming music and podcasts on the Internet.

MESTUDIA = Metacognitive Educational Services & Tutoring - Using "Differentialization" in Academics.Metacognitive Educational Services is an organization focused on helping individual students identify specific learning strengths and weaknesses as well as recommending strategies for achieving greater success within the classroom environment. The term "differentialization" is used here to describe a process of empowering students (and their families) to strategically modify their approach to all aspects of learning and increase chances to succeed even when working with teachers or individual assignments that do not conform to a student's preferred learning style. Additional strategies can include, but are not limited to, overcoming test anxiety and varying techniques for taking notes during instruction that will facilitate both learning and studying. Tutoring services are also available for physics, chemistry, any level of mathematics from Algebra to Calculus, and also for specific exam preparation, such the ACT, SAT, AP, IB, and even GRE exams. Tutoring services are provided by a certified, professional educator. The range of clients includes high-school students preparing for college, students attending a traditional college, non-traditional students (adults) who have returned to college as a part of a career-change plan. By identifying students' individual strengths and weaknesses, an action plan can be developed that assists students with specific courses (aligned with each instructor's teaching styles and assessment methods) as well as offering strategies applicable to virtually any learning situation.

I tutored students from all across the country in mathematics... predominantly both Algebra1 & 2. REMIND has long served as the safest and most convenient communication medium between teachers, students, and parents. REMIND then expanded into the tutoring realm initially serving students needing help with mathematics. REMIND uses an interactive whiteboard platform along with video streaming to deliver meaningful lesson support for students who are unable or unwilling to solicit help from their classroom math teacher.

The Fusion model focuses on serving students in a 1:1 classroom setting--very much like tutoring except that each class session is focused on helping students to learn new material rather than simply helping students to better understand lessons taught in their primary classroom setting which they share with several other students. Because of this individualized format, I also helped students to identify their learning preferences and strengths and taught them how to use that information to thrive and maximize their own educational potential as they prepared for college and the professional world.

After having returned to the Houston area, I taught physics at an independent, co-ed school with a focus on the International Baccalaureate programme. I was assigned to teach all levels of physics from General and Honors Physics to both Standard and Higher Levels of IB Physics.At the conclusion of the 2021-2022 school year, the school's management company, Nord Anglia, terminated the to school administrators following mismanagement of contract distribution that forced many teachers like myself to seek the safety of other employment opportunities when contracts were failed to be issued until late May of that year.

I taught AP Physics C, Physics 1, General Physics, Conceptual Physics, Astronomy, and General Chemistry to the cadets here at Riverside. I was also responsible for the creation of a 4th-year course offering for students who have successfully taken an AP science exam and wanted to pursue an even higher order of studies, called the Advanced Scientific Internship, where students conducted two semester-long research projects learning important research skills necessary for success in college and culminating in poster and-or video presentations. I also assisted with coaching the soccer program for two seasons. Unofficially, I served as a mentor to some of my colleagues particularly from those seeking advice and didn't want the entanglement of asking someone in a supervisory position.

I taught physics and chemistry (both AP & IB) to high school juniors and seniors. I also served as the Programme Coordinator for both the Diploma and Middle-Years Programmes. Lastly, I managed the school's student and family database and eased the mid-year transition between two vastly-different databases (Veracross and ManageBac). This transition required self-teaching to learn the systems and then the design of resources (live presentations, narrated videos, and detailed worksheets) to help faculty, staff, parents, and students to understand and use the new system.Problems at the school were evident throughout this tumultuous year as the school cycled through four administrators in less than 9 months. Towards the end, experienced faculty members like myself were called on to take up various administrative responsibilities. Due to a radical decline in enrollment due to the ongoing mismanagement of both administrator and faculty, a third of the remaining faculty (including myself) were laid off in June 2016 violating existing contractual agreements by terminating all benefits and prematurely ending the salary payout for the 21015-2016 school year. Of course, teachers who were being retained for the future continued to get paid throughout the summer although nothing further was required from them in terms of service.

Taught Physics and Chemistry for both the Diploma Programme and Middle-Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organization to public high school students in 9th to 11th grade.Ultimately, the school was dissolved and merged with another non-IB school within the district.

Designed the lessons and assessments aligned with district curriculum for both Physics and Physical Science courses at Holt High School.In spite of repeated efforts to introduce an true inquiry-based program to the students at Holt, a lack of administrative support in favor of a worksheet-based curriculum that was known to only perpetuate ongoing problems within the school, made it clear that I had too hastily settled on this opportunity. That said, it was a wonderful learning experience that has only deepened my resolve to work for a school/district that sets high standards for the students there and then provides the support for maintaining those standards.

I taught General Physics, Advanced Physics, IB Physics, and from time-to-time, Astronomy to high school students in a public high school. My responsibilities, however, were not simply limited to instruction. Because I was the only physics teacher in this district, I was completely responsible for the development of the curriculum which has been evolving over the past several years to not only include a second-year advanced course, but also the IB Physics course which must comply with standards set by the International Baccalaureate Organization. I also redesigned the General Physics course to specifically prepare the students in the course for the demands and rigors of their future studies in college.Following the retirement of a true educational leader in June 2011, I had concerns about the direction the district was taking under new leadership. Those concerns have been substantiated since my decision to resign my position there.

My primary duties were to alter existing the e-curriculum created by Century 21 National Headquarters to facilitate learning opportunities for the sales agents and brokers. Although the strategy was progressive, agents and brokers had difficulties taking full advantage of the resources available to them. After completing all of the coursework myself, I restructured and re-packaged the material to ease the learning process and highlight the most relevant aspects of the curriculum for the agents and brokers who were eager to spend the majority of their time serving our clients and customers. My other essential duties included advising others on computer hardware and software and even cellular phone purchases, training them on use of basic computer functions, maintaining the company web site, and overseeing the implementation of the company's intranet. [Part-time work: averaged 18 hrs/week]I ultimately decided to resign this position to increase my involvement and focus on my full-time responsibilities at the public school where I was teaching.

Initially hired as staff trainer; promoted after two weeks to Residential Services Supervisor to oversee all care, maintenance, and programming during 2nd shift. Supervised direct care staff of over 20 workers serving approximately 60 adults and 20 children and adolescents recovering from traumatic brain injuries and neurosurgery.I resigned this position to return to school and pursue a career in public education.

Primary responsibilities included developing skill and training programs for 12 residents with profound mental retardation (IQ score range under 20) as well as assisting with care management. Worked as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to care for residents. Successfully identified inconsistencies in the pharmacological treatment methods of five residents that led directly to prescriptive changes.
