I lead the social media strategy for Marketplace's portfolio of award-winning broadcast programs and podcasts, which are heard by more than 12 million listeners each week. I oversee a team of digital producers, with an emphasis on audience growth and engagement.

I launched and manage editorially-driven Downtown Las Vegas Instagram page, @DTLV, engaging the community with a mix of original reporting, curated content and weekend takeovers that appeal to locals and tourists alike. The page has organically grown to more than 43,000 followers to date as a result, helping to drive tourism and economic development in the region. I also launched and produced the Field Trip outdoor concert series. In 2021, I produced 10 concerts that drew a total of 5,400 attendees in a safe, open-air setting while providing musicians with a stage to return to in the wake of the pandemic. In addition, I creative directed a merchandise series in collaboration with local artists.

My writing has appeared in various print and online publications including the Guardian, Marriott Bonvoy Traveler, Desert Companion, Las Vegas Weekly, Anxy Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, SF Weekly, East Bay Express and XLR8R, among others. I've also edited scripts for Black Mountain Radio, a podcast series for UNLV literary center the Black Mountain Institute. As a social media and content marketing consultant, my clients have included Las Vegas' Life is Beautiful Music + Art Festival, North American events company Eventbrite, beverage company Pernod Ricard (Bacardi), Las Vegas digital startup OTS Media, and upcycled pet food company Dog & Whistle, among others.

I oversaw content and social media for nightlife and restaurant company Corner Bar Management, which operates multiple venues across Las Vegas including Downtown Las Vegas hot spots Commonwealth, Park on Fremont and Lucky Day, as well as restaurant Peyote and showroom Cheapshot, which features the "Miss Behave's Mavericks" variety show. I implemented new strategies and onboarded new tools for effective and seamless social media management, while writing web content, menus, artist bios and more.

Henderson, Nevada, United States

I created compelling and engaging content for various City of Henderson services and departments including the City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Redevelopment, Henderson Police Department, Henderson Fire Department and Special Events. I also developed and implemented a new overall social media strategy for the City with an emphasis on user engagement, user-generated content and storytelling to create a more inclusive, community-focused digital environment.Among the projects I led were the social media rollout for the new City of Henderson logo, the Henderson Police Department's Black History Month video series, live coverage of the mayor's 2022 State of the City address and the opening of the Dollar Loan Center, the Big West Basketball Tournament and the City's fall/winter holiday events campaigns.

I led the social media strategy for Pop-Up Magazine, an acclaimed touring “live magazine” production, and The California Sunday Magazine, an award-winning print magazine covering the American West, Asia, and Latin America. I helped streamline the publications' social media accounts, introduced new tools and dashboards, created content calendars, managed and wrote weekly newsletters, captured behind-the-scenes moments on tours, conducted live interviews, and more, ultimately increasing both brands' digital reach and helping sell tickets to the live events.

I started as the engagement editor focused primarily on social media strategy and user engagement before being promoted to director of digital content in 2016. In that role, I developed editorial strategy, managed the web team and assigned, edited and produced content for Wendoh Media's various websites including award-winning city news magazine vegasseven.com, renowned music festival lifeisbeautiful.com, Downtown Las Vegas news portal DTLV.com and nightlife outlet spyonvegas.com.

I launched hyper-local news websites Union City Patch in October 2010 and Fremont Patch in August 2012 where I covered everything from government and business to breaking news and features. I managed their respective social media communities, daily newsletters, editorial calendars, freelancers and budgets. In 2013, I received a Making a Difference in the Community Award from the Union City Human Relations Commission.

I guided all aspects of independent arts and culture webzine Oh Dang!, including brand, vision and editorial voice, as well as assigning, editing and producing features, blogs and videos. In August 2009, we produced a limited-run print issue distributed at both local and national events. Given our focus on music and arts, we launched spin-off company Oh Dang! Events, which hosted monthly concerts and parties at popular San Francisco nightclubs and venues.

I was one of two (out of more than 400 applicants) chosen for an arts and culture reporting fellowship with now-defunct web magazine WireTap. There, I worked with professional mentors in partnership with the Nathan Cummings Foundation and Nation Institute to create features for various publications including the San Francisco Chronicle, East Bay Express and Urb.com.

I organized and led high school programs for San Francisco State University-based nonprofit Center for Integration and Improvement of Journalism. Programs included the Bay Area Multicultural Media Academy summer camp and Prime Movers, which re-launched campus newspapers at Bay Area high schools.

I oversaw the music section for the nationally-distributed Asian American culture magazine.

I wrote political and pop culture commentary, features, profiles and blogs for the award-winning webzine, which was founded by acclaimed journalist and novelist Farai Chideya. I also produced and co-hosted a weekly podcast radio show at a time when no one had a clue what a podcast was.

San Francisco Bay Area

I wrote breaking news and feature stories for the daily newspaper via an advanced course at San Francisco State University where students worked directly with Oakland Tribune editors. Stories included a feature on the early 2000s dental fashion trend known as "grills" and a profile of musician and activist Boots Riley.
