Welcome to my LinkedIn page! My name is Zoe Dumas, and I am a passionate and creative writer and editor based in Fresno, CA. My education in English Literature, including a master’s degree from San Francisco State University, has equipped me with a deep understanding of the mechanics, structure, and research necessary for effective writing. Through my experience as a Writing Lab tutor and Editor for the Graduate Literature Association Student Journal, I have honed my communication and collaboration skills, working one-on-one with a diverse population of students, and collaborating with fellow editors to determine the journal's thematic and stylistic direction.My professional experience includes freelance writing, where I have written a variety of nonfiction pieces in niches such as coffee, film & TV, and technology and ghostwrote fiction in the “Cozy Mystery” genre. In my previous roles as an Assistant Editor at Heidi Cook Editing Services and CSC Editing Services, I conducted developmental and copyediting on multiple books per month, collaborated with managing editors over Zoom and email, and ghostwrote manuscript portions that maintained the style and tone of the original draft. Additionally, I created and maintained an in-house style guide for CSC Editing Services and remotely supervised and guided a group of interns. My commitment to cultivating a collaborative environment based on diverse ideas and perspectives is reflected in my service work as well. As a Writing Lab tutor in the Department of English at San Francisco State University, I worked one-on-one with a diverse population of students to reinforce pre-transfer and transfer level English concepts, including mechanics, structure, and research. Additionally, I served as an Editor for the Graduate Literature Association Student Journal, where I collaborated with student writers to prepare their work for publication and convened with fellow editors to determine the journal's thematic and stylistic direction.As a passionate and results-driven editor with experience in the book publishing industry, I am committed to ensuring the accuracy and quality of content through line editing, copywriting, and proofreading.
