Zo Onyeise was born in Lagos, Nigeria. When she was six years old, her father was transferred to the United States for work, the family immigrated to Kansas and eventually settled in Houston, Texas. Following her graduation from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in public relations, Ms. Onyeise served as the Marketing Associate for Habitat of Humanity of San Antonio. It was there, as she helped to raise awareness and funds to provide housing for underserved sectors of the San Antonio community, that her love of public service was galvanized into a call to action that led her to choose a career in law.Zo Onyeise earned her Juris Doctorate from Texas A&M School of Law, where she served as President of Phi Delta Phi, a Legal Honor Society, and on the board of the Black Law Students Association. In law school, Ms. Onyeise competed in a number of regional and national mock trial competitions, earning several advocacy awards and national acclaim. Upon graduation, Ms. Onyeise was one of only ten students inducted into The Order of Barristers, a national honor society that recognizes superior oral and written advocacy skills.Prior to starting her current role, Ms. Onyeise served as a judicial intern for the Honorable David L. Horan, Magistrate Judge of the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas, She also interned for the Honorable Martin J. Hoffman of the 68th Dallas Civil District Court, and worked at a national plaintiffs’ personal injury firm where she gained significant experience in complex civil litigation, fighting for clients injured by products Ms. Onyeise also has experience handling commercial trucking wrecks, workplace injuries, medical malpractice claims, wrongful death claims and premises liability claims. Ms. Onyeise is an active member of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, where she serves on the Lawyers Promoting Diversity committee.
