Land referencing makes up the front end of all large-scale infrastructure projects and deals with the classification of land and stakeholder engagement. Fundamentally, the purpose of land referencing is to ensure all parties in the affected area are biased with and social impacts are mitigated. At WSP I worked on a wide range of projects, each varying in size, however I primarily worked on the Heathrow Expansion Scheme. I used a variety of communication methods including phone calls, emails and site visits to complete said land classification tasks. A large part of my role included data entry and ensuring compliance of strict GDPR policies. I also became involved in the set up of a ‘Social media champion’ for my office where I had been leasing with the Project Communications Manager to improve our departments LinkedIn status and in doing so I attended relevant webinars and meetings.
