To be able to guarantee the safety of theirsystem they chose to conduct their own investigation.I conducted a pre-study on how to communicate with boats wirelessly without losing theconnection. During the pre-study I evaluated five different technologies to see which oneis the most fitting product for marine applications. The goal of the pre-study was to create thefoundation for a global standard for wireless control of marine vessels. During the project volvodecided to construct a prototype of the wireless joystick to make physical tests. I then usedthe information from the pre-study to build a prototype of the wireless joystick. The prototypemade it possible to conduct stress tests on the system to ensure the safety of the product. Theresulting joystick and specifications will later be used by Volvo to make the final product. Show less
