Fundraising Officer & Volunteer CoordinatorFoundation For Education And Development Nov 2008 - May 2010The Foundation for Education and Development (FED), also known as Grassroots human, Rights, Education and Development (GHRE) is a grassroots organisation based in Phang Nga, Southern Thailand that works to support marginalised Burmese migrant families. The 3 main program areas are: Health, Education and Migrant Development. Within these areas there are a large number of projects including women's empowerment, Human rights education and documentation, legal aid, job creation, school integration and a community health worker project. FED-GHRE also runs 8 learning centres with over 500 Burmese children enrolled, 2 nurseries, a youth outreach centre, a temporary emergency shelter and a commiunity child care centre. Coordinated 150-200 volunteers over 18 months – up to 12 at any given time. Reviewed CVs & matched them to programme needs, liaised with volunteer recruitment firms. Created research projects and activities for volunteers, created and improved volunteer management documents. Orientated volunteers to the area, organisation and culture, assisted with visas, accommodation and arranged transportation. Liaised with partner/donor organisations, brainstormed new project ideas, researched and wrote project proposals and grant applications, formulated budgets, planned project monitoring and evaluation, negotiated MOUs, wrote/edited donor reports. Contact person for donors.I have also taught a variety of topics such as drama, physics and art to children of all ages at a number of summer camps, taught beach volleyball to girls aged 8-12 and taught jewelery making handicraft skills to several groups of vulnerable women. -

The project concerned the social and environmental desertification of the Peruvian Highlands as a result of rural-urban migration, globalisation and climate change. The purpose of the report was to highlight the causes of agricultural abandonment, namely poverty, and to suggest schemes at local and government level in order to deal with its consequences.
