Within ORTEC, the development of ORTEC Logiqcare was fashioned after an internal startup model for which I was initially solely responsible. Gradually the team was grown to five fte and then merged with other teams to form the Healthcare Development department. ORTEC Logiqcare is aimed at medical specialists to provide them first first-class support for the daily care process and medical decision making. As a Software Architect at the consulting group, my responsibilities were: • Design of software architectures for custom software solutions based on .NET technologies. The solutions range from large, scalable web platforms to enterprise applications and small mobile apps. • Overseeing implementation of architectural design by software engineers (a team of approximately 20).• Giving technical advice during aquisition, RfP's and RfC's. • Standardizing and improving the development process by defining preferred choices for technologies, providing guidance and specifying best practices. Introducing and implementing processes and practices that improve software quality, such as unit testing, code review and continuous integration.• Coaching and mentoring of junior team members.Some projects that I have worked on:• A real-time bidding platform for online advertisement. The challenge was to deal with the high volume of traffic (billions of bid requests per month) and devise an architecture that can scale infinitely.• An enterprise application for the CEP (courier-express-postal) business for optimizing the network of transports between depots. We used the Service Bus for Windows Server messaging platform for implementing reliable, asynchronous messaging. An additional benefit is that the architecture is ready to be migrated to the cloud (using Azure Service Bus) when the business demands it.• An application that is used by a major grocery chain to optimize the distribution of its goods from depots to shops. The application had to be delivered within a very challenging timeframe and had to deal with a large amount of data using an embedded database.

Responsible for design and implementation in C++ of various extensions on ORTEC’s products:• Improvement to algorithms for querying calendars that resulted in an average speed-up of factor 140.• Support for new kinds of planning functionality, such as dependencies between resources, multi-resource behavior, load assignment, multi-modal transport, price calculations and driver legislation.Started a project in private time for visualizing the complex internal data-structure of a scheduler and tracking changes in real-time. One aim of the project was to learn C# and WPF.
