About Muhammad Zubair
Battery Researcher (Advanced Battery Materials and Devices ) with a strong focus on Research & Development.During my PhD at Beijing University of Technology, I worked on the Synthesis, Surface Modification and Characterization of Li-rich Mn-based Layered Oxide (LrLOs) Cathode Active Materials for Lithium-ion batteries. The major objective of my PhD thesis was to improve the overall electrochemical performance of LrLOs, including: (1) the preparation of high tap density LrLOs by controlling content of NH4OH during co-precipitation process, which can mitigate the voltage decay and capacity fading, (2) grain bulk doping with Nb element to improve the cycle stability and electrochemical kinetics of LrLOs during precursor calcination process and (3) spinel-structure and oxygen-vacancy introduction on the grain surface of LrLOs during the Sol-Gel synthesis following surface modification process, combining with multi-dimensional carbon nanotubes to form composite materials, which can promote the diffusion of both Li+ and electron, and also inhibit the irreversible structural evolution at high temperatures.My current research at Forschungszentrum Julich, IMD-2 has been focused on the fabrication and characterization of infiltrated cathode active material (CAM) in garnet LLZO solid electrolyte scaffolds for ASSBs. We synthesized LLZO-based scaffold with porous-dense-porous tri and bi-layer structure to act the backbone of ASSBs. We infiltrate chemical precursor into LLZO scaffolds following by in-situ synthesis of CAM. We also infiltrate the as-synthesized CAM into a LLZO scaffold and study what chemical changes are induced by specific cell components (electrode/electrolyte interface, grain boundaries, impedance, etc.). Also, we test the compatibility of solid electrolyte LLZO/LrLOs interfacial stability. I do have;-Expertise in the synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical evaluation of cathode active materials for lithium-ion batteries.-Strong background in solid-state chemistry, materials engineering, and electrochemical energy storage systems.-Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation using tools such as SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, and electrochemical techniques (e.g., cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic cycling).-Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, synthesis techniques (e.g., sol-gel, solid-state reactions, co-precipitation), and battery testing protocols.
