The vast influx of refugees is due to several factors in Uganda’s neighboring countries, especially war and violence in south Sudan and Dr.congo With majority of the refugees below the age of 25 years.PROJECT DESCRIPTION:The project is a youth led Hip Hop project that is geared towards the upliftment, elevation and enhancement of the inner abilities and potentials of the youths in refugee camps engaging them in experiential and practical Arts Education disciplines that are tailored to equip them with both artistic and business skills to be able to build them as professional creatives, promote healing, Peace building, rehabilitation and positive social change through various forms of Hip Hop elements such as Breaking/dance, Rap/poetry/music. Graffiti/mural/Street art, Deejaying, Beat boxing, Street fashion and Street entrepreneurism. OBJECTIVES;Convey the diversity and high artistic merit of the arts in the refugee settlements as vibrant, engaged, and innovative partners in addressing social issues related to trauma, conflicts, gender-based violence, and poverty while promoting healing, reconciliation, resiliency, leadership, entrepreneurial skills and peaceful resolutions.Provide unique opportunities for sustainable artistic collaboration, engagement, and performance between artists in the refugee settlements and Ugandan and international participants in both the settlements and others in Uganda and abroad through platforms such as residencies, festivals, theaters, events, and exhibition.

These entities will comprise of influential artists, performers and intellectuals from all elements of Hip Hop. They are all, invested and committed to the aims of GHH.GHH will become an influential movement in the new global village. Youth of today especially, need empowerment through something they can relate to, and believe in. GHH aims to harness the progressive talent of otherwise disenfranchised youth, into a collective, dynamic and productive international program, guided by a central committee.The aims of the program initially will be to set up infrastructures to deal with the symptoms of the world as it is. Our network will enable us to set up pre structured and designed community arts workshops, youth empowerment initiatives, co operative events, programs for conflict resolution, hunger alleviation, edutainment, and especially, refugee assistance.GHH is also designed to facilitate sustainable, vital, and transparent CSI initiatives.
