(1) Create networks and collaborate with community organizations, state and district leaders, and campus-based Extension staff to develop data products, conduct surveys and other community needs assessments; (2) Develop innovative curricula and programs to address local community needs that mesh with the broader state and national interdisciplinary initiatives; (3) Establish professional relationships and participate in campus-based partnerships to link academic programs and research to Community Development Extension programs; (4) Partner with Community Development Extension educators, specialists, and faculty members on research and Extension projects; (5) Acquire extramural funding and fees to support Community Development Extension programs; (6) Conduct applied research in support of the Community Development Extension program and remain abreast of current research and other developments in community development and related fields; (7) Mentor undergraduate and graduate students on research projects and internships; (8) Actively participate in professional activities at the North Central region and national levels.

Monitored, analyzed and evaluated regional diversities in an economic and social development in rural areas of the Czech Republic and EU. Formulated recommendations for sustainable socio-economic development of monitored areas. Contributed to re-formulation of EU Common Agricultural Policy 2007 - 2013, and preparation of EU Rural Development Program of the Czech Republic 2014 – 2020.Led a Czech team in an international research project focused on territorial aspects of enterprise development in remote rural areas of Europe. Participated in national and international projects focused on an economic evaluation of EU Rural Development Policy. Evaluated EU Rural Development Policies and extended the economic evaluation in the direction of using the input-output analysis. Formulated recommendation for effective allocation of EU and national funds for rural development and implementation of policy measures.Drafted grants and project proposals, and budget projection. Analyzed rural youth migration, granting agricultural credits and small entrepreneurship in Russian rural areas.Designated, conducted and completed research on the factors determining the out-migration of young educated people in the Russian rural areas in general and in the study area of Altai Krai.Researched granting credits in agriculture and entrepreneurial intentions of educated youth in rural areas of Altai Krai, Russian Siberia.

Provided consultancy services in diversification of agricultural activities in rural areas of the Czech Republic.
