The mission of Nowell Academy is to ensure that Rhode Island’s pregnant, parenting and underserved youth graduate from high school with the knowledge and skills they need to be prepared for success in college, career, and family life. Nowell Academy is relentless about inspiring students through a project-based learning model aligned to competencies. A cornerstone of project-based learning is connecting students with experts connected to the content and/or skills in the project. Additionally, all Nowell juniors participate in a career readiness course and engage in a semester-long internship. We are seeking an individual who is experienced in supporting young people in internship programs and who is skilled in recruiting industry partners to share their expertise in a school setting.. Nowell is in the first year of implementation of this program and seeks an experienced visionary who will lead our efforts to ensure that every student graduates ready to be successful in career, college and family life.Position Details: ● Refining a semester-long workplace readiness course that prepares high school juniors and seniors for a professional internship/workplace experience that is grounded in effective youth development principles and leverages the work of successful internship programs in the region and nationally; ● Launching and overseeing an internship program for juniors and seniors that relies upon existing and new industry partners; ● Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director;

Combining wearable tech with a systemic approach to social justice provides a full circle approach to eliminating not only the issues that fashion has caused the environment and how it's affected the earth. CalledOut4 uses this platform to help people to create their own livelihood and supports other non-profits doing critical work. CalledOut4 is determined to confront and work to eradicate social injustice, starting with sex trafficking, through creating clothing made of recycled textiles and recycled polyester, partnering with existing nonprofits, and telling their story creatively through our fabric and the wearable technology embedded within it to raise awareness on current issues plaguing society. This allows us to create jobs to stimulate the economy locally and at the same time we raise awareness of the need to strengthen laws to help protect victims of Social Injustice.
