As an undergraduate at UCLA with a penchant for travel, I wrote and released the first online travel booking software program to help travel agents transition to the digital future. I couldn’t have guessed it at the time, but that early success would pave the path to a colorful and highly-rewarding future as a tech founder, leader and mentor. I have a track record of founding, growing, and successfully exiting a long-list of venture-backed start-ups. Since 1995, I’ve played a major, hands-on role in five consecutive successful exits, including at least one unicorn. Growth Hacking, Digital Marketing and Operational Excellence - I joined ZipRecruiter when it was the fastest growing startup in LA and as COO shepherded the organization to exponential growth and through the transition to becoming a successful public company. Among our innovations was the now commonplace podcast live-read ad format, which proved to be massively more impactful than typical ad insertions and powered a great deal of demand for our platform.A penchant for identifying and solving big problems - The old adage that half of all advertising is wasted always rubbed me the wrong way, and I knew that with a proper perspective, we could develop a multi-media advertising and sales attribution model to optimize our ad spend at YLighting, the online lighting e-commerce company I built in the early 2000s (acquired by Alpine Investors).
