It's the earliest memory I have of being truly awestruck: standing on my driveway atop a hill in Cheyenne, Wyoming at 4 or 5 years old, staring into the sky, transfixed, as the US Air Force Thunderbirds roared past performing their incredible aerobatics. This moment, it turns out, was the definitive starting point on the path that's led to my passion today for leveraging technology - particularly software - to solve problems, inspire delight, and ultimately try to improve the world we live in.You're not wrong in thinking that's a bit of a leap - there were some key formative steps along the way. Driven by a desire to learn everything about how those aircraft worked, with a goal of building the next generation, I chose to study mechanical engineering and accept a scholarship from the US Air Force in exchange for a period of civil service.Along the way, I learned something powerful that changed my entire perspective. While mechanical innovations have played a critical role in the evolution of aircraft, it's been *software* that's fundamentally changed what was possible. That software wasn't just limited to flight control systems either; communication networks (my primary focus with the Air Force) were revolutionizing what aircraft could accomplish. As I learned this, I began watching closely how the internet and smartphones were powering similar revolutions, well, pretty much everywhere. My work at Bose has given me an opportunity to help lead one of these revolutions, establishing new software capabilities in a company with a tremendous legacy in innovative hardware systems and products. In particular, I've been excited to focus much of my work integrating connected audio with other products; through partnerships, we're delivering benefits to customers such as improved home security, increased productivity, and more convenience. Software product management is not a career I could have articulated as a kid in the early 90s gazing in awe at supersonic aircraft, but looking back, there's no denying that's where my journey began. Working with talented engineering, design, and business colleagues to create new value with software perpetually fuels the passion that drives me every day, and inspires my excitement for the future.Key skills and experience: collaborative cross-functional leadership, product strategy development, vision-building, product roadmaps, market research, data analysis, strategic partnerships, Agile methodologies, program management and delivery, web/cloud/mobile app/IoT technologies, REST APIs, and developer relations
