Retired Brigadier General Avi Jacoby, who goes by “Jack,” is Vice President of Operations for Better Place. In this role, Jack is charged with leading the company’s ongoing effort to reduce operational costs while improving the customer’s overall experience. Jack previously served as Chief of Staff for BetterPlace for a few months till the promotion to the current role of VP of Operations. previous to that, during the years of 2011-12, Jack was the Chief Operating Officer for the Better Place Solution Group, the engineering and development team responsible for designing and building the company’s award-winning network solution for electric cars. In his two-year stint as COO for the Solution Group, Jack helped deliver a scalable electric car network solution. Given the start-up nature of the company, he applied the discipline and leadership skills from his 30-year tenure in the military to Better Place, transforming the organization into an integrated research, development, and engineering business unit supported by its own legal, finance and human-resource functions. Jack personally led and managed the deployment of the company’s first nationwide network of Battery Switch Stations.Before joining Better Place, Jack served 30 years in the Israeli Air Force, beginning as an F-16 pilot and retiring at the rank of Brigadier General. Jack still serves as an operational F-16 pilot on reserves.Jack earned his master’s degree in Diplomacy and Security from Tel Aviv University and his bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Town Construction from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, where he graduated with the “President’s Award of Distinction.”
