2023年8月から鹿屋で国際関係コーディネーターとして働くことになりました。以前はアメリカの外交官として25年以上、日本、韓国、ネパール、ベリーズ、ガーナ、アフガニスタンで勤務しました。ワシントンDCでは中国デスクを務め、アラバマ州では大学院のカリキュラムを修了し、カンザス州では大学院レベルの成人教育で教鞭をとりました。海外では、経済・商務担当領事としてアメリカの輸出促進、企業支援、国際貿易の促進、上級指導者の議会証言準備、議会からの問い合わせへの回答、訪問議員の支援などを行い、政治担当官として他国政府との交渉、人権問題や児童労働・虐待問題での役人の責任追及、最高裁判所とのグッドガバナンスの強調、保健、科学、技術、貧困緩和、子ども・家族プログラムの支援などを行った； 領事官として外国の刑務所に収監されているアメリカ人を訪問し、ビザを発給し、文化担当官として二国間交流を奨励し、フルブライト奨学生を支援し、助成金プログラムを監督し、軍事・政治顧問として軍事行動の政治的影響について軍将校に助言し、広報担当官として福岡のアメリカン・センターを指揮し、記者会見を運営し、米陸軍の大学院指揮参謀学校で外交と国際関係を教えた。外交官としてのキャリアを全うして引退した後、過去10年間は地域レベルでボランティア活動をしてきました。生涯学習、成人協働学習、コミュニケーション、広報／広報活動、コミュニティづくりに関心があります。I will be working as a Coordinator for International Affairs in Kanoya, Japan from August 2023. Previously, I was an American diplomat for over 25 years and worked in Japan, Korea, Nepal, Belize, Ghana, and Afghanistan. I served in Washington DC at the China Desk, completed a graduate curriculum in Alabama, and taught at graduate level adult education in Kansas. Overseas, I promoted American exports, assisted businesses, facilitated international trade, prepared senior leaders for congressional testimony, replied to congressional inquiries, and assisted visiting congressmen as an Economic and Commercial Officer; negotiated with other governments, held officials accountable on human rights and child labor/abuse issues, stressed good governance with supreme courts, and supported health, science, technology, poverty alleviation, child and family programs as a Political Officer; visited incarcerated Americans in foreign jails and issued visas as a Consular Officer; encouraged bilateral exchange, assisted Fulbright scholars and oversaw grant programs as a Cultural Affairs Officer; advised military officers on political consequences of military actions as a Military-Political Advisor; directed the American Center in Fukuoka and ran press conferences as a Public Affairs Officer, and taught diplomacy and international relations at the US Army’s graduate Command and General Staff College.After retiring from a full career as a diplomat, for the past ten years I have been doing volunteer work at the community level. I am interested in lifelong and adult collaborative learning, communications and public relations/affairs, and community building.
