籍贯四川，青年从军，戎马生涯二十余载，长期从事科研工作。曾亲赴罗布泊参加核实验，多次立功受奖。1982年获解放军科技进步二等奖后，晋升中国人民解放军81869副部队长，授上校军衔。九十年代初下海经商，任中兴沈阳商业大厦商场业务副总经理。经商致富后专题收藏三星堆玉器。目前成规模、成系统，以藏精品著称。中国收藏家协会评选朱文灿为2011年“中国十大收藏家”。2015年11月，被联合国可持续发展目标组织委员会授予“中国文物守护神”荣誉称号。
