Under the direction of the Language Training Director, the ESL Teacher assists immigrants in their transition to a new culture by helping them develop English language skills and community knowledge that will enhance their participation in our multicultural society.

Faithfully and accurately interpret/translate what is stated in the source language into the target language without any paraphrasing, embellishment, omission, explanation or expression of opinion, using the same person as in the source language.

 Supporting course instruction with conferencing sessions and providing individualized lessons using Zoom.  Communicating regularly with students and parents–new and established–using phone calls, emails, and messaging apps.  Completing all grading while providing prompt, personalized feedback on assignments.  Consulting with supervisors to develop alternative enrichment activities and lessons.

 Developing good presentation and communication skills by initiating, facilitating, and moderating virtual classroom lectures, discussions, managing classroom crises, resolving conflicts, informing parents about their children’s performance, and collaborating with teaching staff.  Improving computer and time management skills by preparing digital materials and activities, assigning homework on Google Classroom, as well as conducting online activities and meetings.Media

 Translating and explaining documents, interpreting for research participants and research team, transcribing, and processing data, specializing in the Mandarin Chinese language.  Processing and coding transcripts using Nvivo along with Microsoft Word.

 Prepared weekly WebEx meetings with the instructor and students, and individual student consultation.  Managed marking, provided feedback, and made learning assessments on a flexible work schedule.

 Developed and adapted curriculum for senior high students in preparation for The National College Entrance Examination.  Designed literature and composition lessons according to English and language arts standards set by the Ministry of Education.  Wrote a reference book collaboratively to serve as a guide to write short essays concisely and accurately.  Generated student reports based on carefully documented formative and summative assessments with specific examples of methods to improve competency and communication skills.  Organized English teaching workshops to improve personal and professional skills.  Participated in department staff meetings, teaching strategies and curriculum implementation.

 Assisted students with assignments and provided reading support.  Offered instruction in organization, grammar, and clarity.

 Provided student-centered and task-based approaches for mechanical aviation and flight attendant students with a focus on communication and customer service skills.  Assisted students to develop cultural awareness, sensitivity, and confidence when interacting with people.
