The main goal of the joint project is to develop the next generation of Pit Thermal Energy Storage (PTES) that will permanently meet the requirements of the German and European district heating network industry and furthermore fulfil typical industrial applications. Therefore, this project is working in particular on topics such as advancing materials to better function at 95°C storage temperatures, inexpensive construction and operating methods, well-function and long-lasting floating covers, reliable and simple operation monitoring, e.g., in the event of leakages or malfunctions and support of the sector through evaluated simulation models and simplified tools.In the association of Solmax Geosynthetics GmbH with Solites being parts of Steinbeis Innovation gGmbH, the two market leaders are working together to achieve these goals.Efficient_Pit supported by Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag.

Material of this kind is used in a number of different ways to provide better control in the following areas: - full backfilling for mine roadways and packing for cavities - construction of roadside packs for ribside sealing - building packs and concrete roadway floors - roadway repair operations and shotcreting - building special structures.The main challenge for mine operators is to ensure that the operation to transport and process the building material is as cost-effective and efficient as possible.
