Mental Movement Magazine

Mental Movement Magazine is a multi-award winning creative hub established in response to the growing public health concern of poor mental health experienced by young people in the United Kingdom today. Dedicated to supporting people experiencing mild to moderate depression, anxiety and/or stress, Mental Movement utilises the creative process of conceptualising and delivering a magazine in print and online with an aim to boost confidence, self-esteem, and improve social inclusion and mental wellbeing. Using a multi-modal approach, the MMM team comprise of a diverse mix of experienced applied arts facilitators, many of whom have dual expertise in psychology, counselling, the arts and/or mindfulness-based interventions. Oftentimes, poor mental health can significantly impact our self-esteem and confidence making it harder for us to make human connections, get back into work and re-connect with the things that we once enjoyed. A growing body of evidence supports the notion that arts-based approaches significantly reduce the symptoms associated with poor mental health and Mental Movement Magazine aims to provide an inclusive space for people to connect, collaborate and create. Positively impacting socially marginalised communities is central to what we do. With an eventual goal of establishing a holistic wellbeing service offering creativity on prescription, we continue to provide creative and social experiences to engage young people who have experienced trauma and disadvantage whilst diverting them away from mental health service waiting lists.
