1853 Capital was founded by Max Kleeman, who will graduate next month with his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and is backed by Funded Ventures, the private investment firm led by Brian Wolfe. In 2017, Brian and a partner acquired three SAAS businesses in a "buy and build" strategy, successfully exiting to a financial buyer. We chose the name '1853' for our investment vehicle to honor Washington University's founding year. Our unwavering mission through this business acquisition is to create meaningful work that enhances employees' lives and positively impacts the local community while also delivering a superior financial return.
