In addition to the first modern Olympic games, the first live sports broadcast on record occurred when a telegraph line connected from Montreal to Winnipeg delivered near-live play-by-play updates to fans back in Winnipeg during a Stanley Cup challenge series game between the cities’ two ice hockey franchises. Since 1896, the broadcasting of live sports & entertainment, and how organizations in those industries build and engage fans, has continued to evolve along with technology. The name ‘1896 Partners' pays homage to the importance of past innovations in creating value for the ecosystem while acknowledging that the next wave of value creation will be borne out of continued innovation.
