31 & Company’s 31° Degrees Consulting subsidiary was founded in June 2021 with the intention of navigating low-income, middle-income, and other disadvantaged applicants through the college admissions process and continuing college internship and fellowship search. Graduating college seniors and recent college graduates can also expect academic and career counseling, along with subsidized test and interview preparation. As further service to low-income, middle-income, and disadvantaged members of society, 31° Degrees Consulting is interested in assisting corporations and other large organizations cater to minority applicants and workers in order to best attract and retain diverse talent. Alongside various academic and career mentors, specialists, and counselors, low-income, middle-income, and disadvantaged youth can learn how experienced and proven minority applicants managed to turn supposed weaknesses [i.e lack of resources and intensive career planning] into diverse strengths that helped them stand out in the talent pool. Low-income, middle-income, and disadvantaged applicants are constantly overlooked in favor of wealthier applicants with higher test scores and expensive private counseling experience. 31° Degrees Consulting aims to bridge that gap by accentuating personal strengths rather than focusing on material weaknesses. Although standardized testing and intensive interview preparation are key components of the college admissions process and college internship and fellowship search, 31° Degrees Consulting focuses just as intimately on personal strengths that will supplement an applicant’s background and interests.
