3-D MID e.V.

In order to support the various interdisciplinary tasks during the introduction of MID technology, the Research Association Mechatronic Integrated Devices 3-D MID e.V. was founded in Erlangen in 1992. The aim is to bring together knowledge from different fields. The research association 3-D MID e.V. consists of more than 100 industrial companies and research institutes from the fields of materials, injection molding, structuring and further processing with assembly, soldering and testing as well as users of the technology. The aim of the research association is to promote and further develop MID technology. To this end, projects for joint research are carried out, the exchange of experience among the members is promoted and the implementation of the new technical possibilities is stimulated by suitable public relations work. A special request is the support of small and medium-size enterprises. Research groups formed from the members investigate important fields of research, e.g. the thermal resilience of plastics, innovative joining technology and injection molding issues. Besides the research work of the association is concerned among other things with the development of a MID information system "MIDIS" and compiled and updated standardized MID specifications. The guidelines for the research work are given by the research advisory board, to which representatives of well-known member companies belong. Futhermore the Association is organizing the international MID Kongress every two years and also initiating a collaborative booth at electronica with members as co-exhibitors.
