About 3D Printing and Bioprinting Research Lab

Our Lab offers quality research, training, consultancy, and contract R&D in 3D Printing, Bioprinting, and 4D Printing. Including in-house prepared Bio-inks using natural or synthetic polymers, and preparation of drug-loaded or empty filaments by hot-melt extrusion (HME). Examples of 3D Printing & Bioprinting Projects: • Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs; e.g., stents, bioresorbable scaffolds, and cardiac patches) • Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD; e.g., fistulas and catheters) • Drug-Eluting Implants (e.g., for applications in contraception, ophthalmology, breast cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes, and Parkinson) • Mesh Implants (e.g., Urogynaecological, hernia repair, breast and brain surgeries) • Microfluidic Devices / Lab-on-a-chip / Organ-on-a-chip • Microneedles (e.g., dissolving, solid, and hollow) • Objects to Fight Pandemics (e.g., masks) • Oral Dosage Forms (e.g., tablets and oral films for pediatric or geriatric applications) • Wound Dressings • 3D Bioprinted Microtissues • 3D Printing Models in Surgical Planning • Additive Manufacturing Solutions: Sustainability & Supply-Chain analysis • Machine Learning in Additive Manufacturing • 4D Printing • Materials Printability Studies • Manufacturing of Bio-inks and drug-loaded filaments by hot-melt extrusion (HME) Studies include: conceptualization, manufacturing of 3D / 4D Printed & Bioprinted Products, production of drug-loaded filaments & Bio-inks, advanced physicochemical characterization using state-of-the-art techniques, computational modelling, ex vivo, in vivo and in vitro evaluation. Our Lab, has been recognized as world leaders in 3D Printing. PubMed-based algorithms placed us in the top 0.01% of scholars in the world writing about Printing, over the past 10 years. The lab has achieved a high level of sustainability by successfully implementing the recommendations in the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) pilot program and has been recognized for its efforts with a Gold Award.
