3Gen seeks to develop and commercialize next-generation vaccines to prevent infectious diseases utilizing novel and proprietary nanobiomolecular delivery systems.
3Gen’s lead technology is a biocompatible nanoparticulate vaccine delivery system that facilitates antigen presentation and stimulates robust and specific humoral immunity against target vaccine antigens. These nanoparticle constructs are comprised of two components—(1) a biocompatible nanoparticle that displays (2) one or more antigens from one or more infectious organisms. 3Gen intends to initially focus the development of its nanoparticle technology for vaccines against influenza before broadening its approach to address other infectious diseases, including those caused by viral, bacterial and other pathogens.
3Gen’s second technology is comprised of non-pathogenic, non-integrating, self-amplifying RNA vectors derived from naturally occurring positive sense RNA viruses, intended to stimulate intracellular protein expression and production. This technology should stimulate the production of single or multiple vaccine antigens, leading to stimulation of humoral and/or cellular immune responses against these antigens and protection against disease. The advantage of the RNA vector technology is that it is completely synthetic in nature harnessing the promise of synthetic biology. As with 3Gen’s nanoparticle technology, the RNA vector technology should facilitate the rapid development of several vaccine products to prevent infectious diseases, including those caused by viral, bacterial and other pathogens. In addition, we envision that the RNA vector technology may be used to stimulate production of monoclonal antibodies, immunostimulatory molecules, and other prophylactic and therapeutic proteins.
