A Black Journey in Tech

As an author and technologist, my objective is to inspire and empower the next generation of technologists, particularly Black and Brown individuals, by sharing my own journey. There is a significant lack of representation of Black people in the technology industry, also known as the digital divide. However, Black people have always played a significant role in technological advancement. The problem I want to address is the low representation of Black people in technical fields today. I believe that this is partly due to Black contributions in the tech industry being obfuscated. When Black people do not see themselves represented in tech roles, they may assume that there is no place for them in the industry. As a result, Black people are missing out on the opportunities and benefits that working in tech can provide. Did you know that Black inventors contributed to the development of VoIP technology, electret microphones, and the first digital cell phone? I believe that sharing stories like these, including my own, can inspire and encourage the next generation to succeed in technology. Bottom line is that technology can change your lives, but Black and Brown people are underrepresented. It will take faith and perseverance to push past nos and setbacks. I share how I did it irregardless of the box the world tried to build for me. If I could do it, so can you! My prayer is that my book encourages you to go farther than I have ever dreamed because there is no ceiling or limit in technology.
