With MONO as our home base, (A)WAKE creates space for nuanced
voices and polyphonous perspectives. We strive to develop a (cultural)
program close to current socio-political actualities. A program that
initiates, rather than reacts and does not see counterculture as an
expression of consumption but appreciates it as a manifestation of itself. In
a world dominated by media and populism, we aim to move freely
between the domains of (contemporary) art and politics. We believe deeply
in the seductive power of aesthetics and design, and connect this with
substantive voices of counterculture to reach a wide and diverse audience.
We develop cultural programs that do justice to the complexity of our
current socio-political context and to the perspectives of minorities who for
far too long have been overlooked and/or tokenized by mainstream
institutions.
