Association American College & University Programs in Italy

Founded in 1978 in Rome, the Association of American College and University Programs in Italy (AACUPI) is a vital nonprofit entity dedicated to facilitating the operations of North American university programs across Italy. With a network of over 150 member programs located in cities such as Rome, Florence, and Venice, AACUPI focuses on providing support for the administrative, legal, and regulatory needs of its members. AACUPI streamlines immigration procedures and ensures regulatory compliance by collaborating with Italian governmental bodies. This partnership allows for the standardized application of policies, enabling member institutions to focus on their educational missions without the added complexities of operating abroad. Our advocacy efforts extend to representing the interests of our members before official entities in the United States, Canada, and Italy, as well as other cultural, philanthropic, and educational institutions. Our activities include producing monthly bilingual newsletters that provide critical insights into the legal and fiscal management of academic programs in Italy. These are complemented by quarterly general meetings, which serve as crucial platforms for open dialogue, updates on policy, and collective problem-solving. AACUPI’s mission is to enhance the operational efficacy of North American educational programs in Italy through advocacy, guidance, and shared resources.
