AAFF

Afghanistan American Friendship Foundation (AAFF) is registered in the U.S. with a 501c3 status and is also registered in Afghanistan with a field office in northern Afghanistan where all projects are located. AAFF partners with Afghan communities to collaborate on projects that respond to the need for more educational opportunities for Afghan girls and responds to the need to strengthen and enhance infrastructure so Afghans have access to clean water, educational facilities, and food security. AAFF's programs support human rights, reduce the number of unnecessary hardships, and empower Afghans to enhance their lives and communities. AAFF was founded in 2007 and has: *Built 12 schools for Afghan students in northern Afghanistan *Empowered over 1,600 girls in educational programs *Operated 5 computer training centers serving over 6,500 Afghan girls *Trained 943 Afghan teachers to teach in rural areas in northern Afghanistan *Provided over 450 clean water systems such as hand pump wells and water storage systems for Afghan communities *Provided food aid to thousands of people since the 2021 economic crisis Currently, AAFF operates two computer training centers within public schools. School girls receive 3 months of computer training in Microsoft, internet usage, and components of computers. The course not only enhances their skills, but improves their self-esteem and gives them hope for their futures. It was estimated in 2022 that as a result of the economic crisis, 90% of Afghan households are not getting enough to eat. AAFF has responded to this need by providing a month's worth of staple food supplies to families impacted by the crisis. Many Afghans still lack access to clean water near their homes. AAFF continues to partner with Afghan communities to provide hand pump wells in the heart of communities. Often these water sources serve 1,200-2,400 people improving health and hygiene in these communities.
