Asylum and Refugee Care (AARC) is a volunteer-led organisation based in Aberdeen, focused on supporting people seeking asylum and refugees as they adapt to life in Scotland. Established in 2023, AARC addresses the urgent needs of those who have fled conflict, persecution, or other dangerous situations, helping them rebuild their lives in a new and safe environment. Our mission is to empower people seeking asylum and refugees by providing comprehensive support that promotes integration and self-sufficiency. Key areas of our work include: Support and Empowerment: We offer legal assistance, housing guidance, healthcare access, and educational resources to help individuals regain control of their lives and build a stable future. Social Integration: We create opportunities for connection through cultural exchange events, social activities, and language classes. These initiatives foster a sense of belonging and help newcomers integrate smoothly into the local community. Mental Health and Well-being: Recognising the trauma many have experienced, we provide counselling, support groups, and activities that promote emotional resilience and mental well-being. Advocacy and Awareness: AARC is dedicated to advocating for the rights of people seeking asylum and refugees. We work to raise awareness and influence policies to create a more inclusive and supportive environment. Youth Engagement: We focus on the unique needs of young people seeking asylum and refugees, offering tailored programmes that support their educational and personal development. AARC is committed to building a more inclusive and compassionate Scotland by welcoming and supporting "New Scots." Our work aims to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in their new home.
